Rivers of Grace Philosophy - Rivers of Renewal
Rivers of Renewal flowing in us and through us as we surrender to the Holy Spirit. (Ezekiel 37:1-12; John 7:37-38; Acts 1:8; 2:1-18)
The River of God flows from the Throne of God. Wherever it flows, there is healing, life, and conversion. Technology, theology, and Christian psychology cannot replace the supernatural power of Holy Spirit. People need to be refreshed, released, and renewed in the presence of God. People need a breakthrough in their relationship with God.
We have yet to see a church full of people who have too much supernatural power in their lives. Most of us feel pitifully weak, and we desperately desire more. We strive for an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit is given Lordship over our gathering. We are seeking more power. However, seeking raw power alone is witchcraft. We are seeking more of the Power Broker. God is All Powerful. We want to see our powerful God manifest Himself in anyway He sees fit.
Dennis' Testimony
In January of 1995 after being in full time, charismatic ministry for twenty years, the Holy Spirit overwhelmed me in a measure I'd never experienced before. A month later God showed up in an even greater way. This has been happening on a regular basis every since. This is the same wonderful presence of Jesus, but with a greater intensity. My wife got in over her head and a while later, my daughters did too. Each one had a unique encounter with the Glory.
Lord, Let Your Fire Fall
Our God is a Consuming Fire. It's His nature. Ezekiel saw a vision of God on the throne flowing like glowing metal, full of fire. When John saw the Son of God, he said that His eyes were like blazing fire.
God said Jerusalem, a symbol of the church, would be filled with multitudes, but they wouldn't need walls to protect it from enemies because He would be a wall of fire all around her and the glory in the midst. Elisha surrounded by horses and chariots of fire that protected him from the enemy.
These are days of great harvest when multitudes will come into the kingdom of God as Jesus is building His church. It will be glorious because His presence is central. It will be protected because of His fire. (Hebrews 12:28; Ezekiel 1:26-28; 8:2; Revelations 1:14-18; Zechariah 2:5; 2 Kings 6:17)
Jesus said He had come to bring fire on the earth, not to destroy men's lives, but to save them. (Luke 12:49; Luke 9:52-56)
The Old Testament Promise Fulfilled
"The Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion (a symbol of the church - Hebrews 12:22), and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense. (Isaiah 4:5)
Rafting the River of God is risky business with no guarantees except that Jesus will never leave or forsake us. We desire to be a prophetic people. Led by the Spirt day and night. (Exodus 13:21-22; 14:24)
We desire that Rivers of Grace be aflame with Holy Spirit fire like the burning bush that attracted Moses to a place where he could hear the voice of God. “The Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire.” God gave the law to Moses on Mt. Sinai. It was to be celebrated every year on the day of Pentecost. He came again in fire on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:3. He is still speaking to us from the midst of the fire. (Exodus 3:1-4; Deuteronomy 4:11-5:26)
Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:37-38)
I have prayed Elijah's prayer with pastors in the Philippines and China. I have prayed this prayer with churches in America. The Lord showed up in power.
By faith I have stood on Mars Hill in Athens, Greece, the hills of Honk Kong, and the mountains of Albania calling down fire upon the nations.
Confirmation by Fire:
a. Fire confirmed the reality of God.
b. Fire confirmed Elijah was God's true prophet.
c. Fire led the people to a fresh committment put away their gods and follow the true God.
d. Fire opened the way for an outpouring of rain. "Let us press on to acknowledge the Lord. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth." (Hosea 6:3 NIV)
Revival fire starts in the heart, spreads to the church, flows out the door to the streets, and across the land. The Laodicean church became lukewarm. It didn't start that way. Certain worldly elements sucked the life out of it even though it was prospering in the natural. The law of Thermodynamics says that heat dissipates, things tend to brake down. (Revelations 3:14-22)
According to Jesus, hot is great. Cold is bad. Lukewarm is worse! It nauseates God.
The status quo is a deception. Static conditions only exist temporarily before they begin to digress or deteriorate. Yesterday's manna breeds worms.
Paul said to “Stir up the gift…” (2 Timothy 1:6) He was not insulting Timothy, the pastor of the Ephesian church and his son in the faith. The Greek word for stir up means to kindle, to inflame the mind, to have zeal.
Our Prayer:
A. Lord, renew our passion for Jesus. Send fresh fire.
Jeremiah said, "From on high He sent fire down into my bones."
The two men who walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus said, "Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us and while He opened to us the Scriptures?" The Greek word, kaio, for burn means to set on fire, to consume with fire. (Lam. 1:13; Luke 24:32)
B. Lord, give us a new passion for the Word of God. The Word is like a fire - I cannot withhold. My Word is like a fire and a hammer. (Jeremiah 20:9; 23:29)
C. Jesus, baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Mat. 3:11, 12; Acts 2:3, 4)
D. God, give us a renewed passion for lost souls.
O God, don't let my heart grow cold
As time flies by and I grow old,
For souls are dying, lost in sin;
Help me, in love, to bring them in. Anonymous
E. God, give us your love, to burn within us like a supernatural fire.
We are committed to spreading renewal fire wherever we go. We desire to be instruments of God for rivers to begin to spring forth in desert places.
"Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs." (Isaiah 35:6-7 NIV)
