Healing the Sick Part I
Introduction:
Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, I change not.”
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
His Name is His Nature
Exodus 15:26 “I am the Lord who heals you.” God reveals Himself as Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer. Rapha means to cure, heal, repair, mend, and restore health. His name reveals His nature. Rapha is the Hebrew word for doctor. (Ex. 23:25-26; 30:12)
Power in the Name of Jesus
Acts 3:6-16 “Peter said, In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk…
His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong.” All the Old Testament names of God, including Jehovah Rapha, are incorporated and surpassed in the name of Jesus.

Colossians 3:3 A dead person is not worried about their reputation.
1 Cor. 1:27-31 Few wise, influential, or noble have been chosen to do God's work. God has chose the foolish, the weak, the lowly, the despised, the nothings so that we might boast in Him and not ourselves.
Life is not a 'Treasure Hunt'
Treasure hunt: Gather, pray for a word, and go out looking for that person or situation. Life is not like that. A believer goes about their daily business, ready for action and open to hear the Holy Spirit say, "Hey, pay attention. I have set this up for you to act."
Three Ways of Healing the Sick
1. Word of faith, an absolute assurance beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone will be healed.
2. A sense of a healing anointing, a strong confidence. Don't look for feelings, look for healings!
3. A sense of call: The Word says that believers will heal. I'm a believer. I'm going to do it!
This is what is happening inside of you, but these may look the same to the observer.
Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, I change not.”
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
- There is no Biblical basis for dispensational partitions, the belief that miracles ceased in ancient history. Misinterpreting 1 Corinthians 13:8-12. The perfect to come is Jesus at His second coming. Then knowledge, etc. will pass away. Now, according to 2 Peter 3:18, we are to grow in grace and knowledge - same Greek word for knowledge – gnosis.
- The body of Christ needs healing, and the world is still a sick and broken place.
- We seek the Giver, not just the gifts. We don’t camp around the sign. If you see a sign to a restaurant, you don’t climb up and eat it!
- One of the icons of the local church is a healing community. A church is a place of holistic ministry. People are healed from sin sickness (salvation), the mind is renewed (including emotions), and the body is healed. Doctors use chemotherapy and physical therapy. We use Holy Spirit therapy.
- We want to provide an atmosphere of faith where manifestations are welcome.
- We want to motivate believers and train them to heal the sick in church as well as outside of church meetings. Mark 16:18 Jesus said, "In my name, believers will... lay hands on the sick and they will recover." (Luke 9:1; 10:9)
