Owen and Charlene added a teenage Ethiopian son to their family in 1991.  Their hearts were opened by this experience to a distant nation, an ancient culture of diverse people groups, and to Ethiopians scattered all over the world by famine, persecution and civil war.  Their years pastoring at House of Prayer on Whidbey Island, WA, and working with Newfrontiers provided opportunities to encourage and befriend many serving a wide arena of nations.  In 2006 they moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and began studying the Amharic language and adapting to the challenges of life in Africa.
